Hi! I’m Joanna. But everyone calls me Jo.
I was born and raised in Massachusetts, and can’t imagine living somewhere where I couldn’t get to the ocean. Being the daughter and grand-daughter of photographers, it was always something I loved. I would “borrow” equipment from them, and learned as much as I could. It is a joke with my family that from a very young age, no matter where we were, my line was “take a picture of it!”.
After college, I moved to Marblehead where I knew no one! I wandered the town and brought my camera with me as a way to learn the area, and it was a way to meet new people. This is when I really discovered my love of photography, and haven’t stopped shooting since.
Over the years, I have shot weddings all over New England and have enjoyed every minute. I love meeting new couples, learning their story, and capturing their memories. It would be an honor to tell your love story!
My personal photographs of family and friends are some of my most treasured items I own. The candids have always been my favorites… a hug, a spontaneous giggle, a sideways glance, or siblings just being siblings. The genuine moments tell the story. Incorporating the landscape is one of my favorite compositional techniques, especially living on the North Shore with the harbors, sunsets, fields, barns, and gorgeous scenery that surrounds us. My goal is to share photos with you that will have a treasured place in your home for years to come.
